Our mission, values and beliefs
Our mission is to elevate CIO/CTO leaders through peer advisory to effectively engage as business executives.
We value advocacy - which means we prioritize advice based on unbiased oversight.
We believe in checks and balances for the information technology industry based on advocacy. Technology is time and money.
Do you have to be a CIO or CTO?
Nope. A number of our members are directors and VPs. What matters most is if you report to, and are accountable to, stakeholders - the CEO, CFO and/or board of directors. You create and drive information technology strategies and initiatives and secure the resources to deploy them. You are looking to create more visibility into your role and your impact.
Why CIO CTO Mastermind Think Tank Brain Trust exists
We needed it and it didn't exist. Networking events, summits, meetups, vendor dinners, etc. were not providing what we needed - frequent access and communication with another CIO or CTO. We needed access to time to them to get their knowledge, experience, and input.
Why such an obnoxious name?
CIOs and CTOs are usually just geeks with executive tendencies. One should be over the top when dealing with geeks because we need data. "CIO/CTO Mastermind Think Tank Brain Trust" should give CIOs and CTOs the data they need to figure out what it is.
If you say it several times, "Mastermind Think Tank Brain Trust"... it really rolls off the tongue quite nicely. And if you hate acronyms the way a true engineer does, what could be better than CIOCTO MMTTBT??!!
Do you charge?
Yes - we have to charge or the busy CIO will find a way not to come. If the busy CIO doesn't come, we have no group.
The price of membership needs to be at a level that is not insignificant as well as not too high for somebody between gigs (just in case). The standard price for a year of membership in the CIOCTO MMTTBT is only $5940.
If you're thinking something like, "Darn! I'll bet the value you could get from a group like this far exceeds any cost!", then you would be a perfect fit and we want you. Come to a Meet 'n Greet or get invited as a guest.
If you're thinking something like, "Darn! Another cost!" without the thought of the amount of value you would get, maybe you could step up your game. We love to work with people who are trying to improve!
What is the conservative ROI from membership to my stakeholders?
Great question. Glad you asked. Here is your conservative return on this investment:
- Average group size of 9 members (8 other members)
- Conservative salary of average member = $150K/year
- Hourly rate of average member (50 wks/yr, 40 hrs/wk) = $75/hr
- 10 months participation in a year
- Minimum market value of Info-Tech's CEO/CIO Alignment Surveys = $10K per report
- The fee for membership per year = a dollar amount that keeps people serious about attending AND one that our founding member Scott Smeester would pay if he was unemployed and had to put it on a credit card = less than $500 per month or less than $6000 per year.
The fee of membership is $5940.
